Egyptian actor George Fahmy reluctantly accepts a film commission from state authorities, only to find himself entangled in the dangerous inner circles of power. As he grows closer to the mysterious wife of a commanding general, personal ambition and political intrigue become impossible to separate.
Cindy says
Tarik Saleh crafts a tense political thriller that's more interested in moral compromise than spectacle. Fares Fares anchors it with a nuanced performance, though the film's intrigue occasionally gets tangled in its own plotting—still, the Cairo power dynamics and forbidden affair dynamics crackle with real danger.
