Thirty years after the original kaiju attack, a massive radioactive monster emerges from the ocean to devastate Japan once again. Scientists and military forces struggle to stop the creature's rampage through Tokyo.
Cindy says
The original Japanese cut is genuinely thrilling—a properly dark return to form with killer practical effects and real atomic-age dread. The American re-edit with Raymond Burr feels like a time capsule of bad dubbing and awkward framing, though it's more watchable than most '80s Godzilla fare. If you can track down The Return of Godzilla, do that instead.
